What is Pinhole Photography?

Camera Obscura

A pinhole camera is a very simple optical device - a lightproof box containing light-sensitive media, with a small pin hole on its side. That's it. There is no lens or any complicated mechanism - actually, this is very similar to how the human eye works.

The light entering through the pinhole is projected onto the light-sensitive film or paper, and voila! an image is created of whatever is in front of the camera.
